I love all of this especially the reminder of a blank slate. I caught my fourth graders passing notes during class and one of them wrote in the note that they wished I was their mother- I was 22. 😢We are so lucky to be in their lives and yes, it is totally overwhelming so cheers to the abundance and creativity of summer. 🥰
Your attitude about the trickiest of classes is admirable and you shine as one of the teachers that make an impact everyday. ❤️Enjoy your well earned break. ❤️
"....and gave ourselves the grace of today". I love that take on describing the power of the Present Moment. We learn from the past, forgive and then move into the Present. Those two girls in your essay truly gave you a gift of Trust.

Aww, cute! Yeah, it hit differently when 18 yr olds express the thought about me at 48. 🥹 Enjoy your summer of change!

But wait... What did you say back to that student? How did you handle that silence?
I think I blacked out for a minute as the truth sank in. Then I smiled a sad smile and said, “Aww, thanks.”
It was really, really sweet. Ty for sharing. (We need to meet up for a chat sometime this summer)
Yes, please!
