In honor of National Library Week, I’m sharing this post I wrote on my author website back in 2015. I hope you enjoy. When I was seven, my mother told me I was getting a "Big Sister" from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Since my brothers were too young for the program, only I would be getting one. I was getting a fake, older sister because I was special. Yeah, I was skeptical, too.
Lovely story. My beloved Grammie gave me the love and attention I was missing as a child. As the oldest I was meant to be the mom in training for my siblings, particularly my baby brother 9 years younger. Only as an adult do I understand how lucky I was to be a little girl at my Grammie’s...who’s home was In walking distance to our tiny town library. ❤️
